I finally gave in to the Blog

I have been hearing about Blogs for the past few years. I must admit when I first heard about it I thought "what a stupid name - blog" and refused to associate myself with such a silly thing despite my interests in computers and the Internet. However, my reluctance to share my thoughts online was two-fold: First, does anyone really want to read what I think and secondly, do I have anything worth taking time to write about?

Of course, the jury is still out on the first question, but I have discovered a few topics I think are worth my time to discuss. Before I go any further let me state my disclaimer: I believe freedom is only realized when people have the capability to purse knowledge and truth. However, my Blog is not going to give you the "truth". My hope is to provide information and raise issues that are rarely seen in the mainstream media to spark critical thinking in the reader. I believe there is value in having a questioning attitude when information is presented. It is up to each individual to study and determine for himself what is the truth. So please keep this in mind if you choose to read my blog.

Several years ago while in Barnes & Noble with a friend of mine, who is a medical doctor, I came across a book called "The Natural Cures They Don't Want You to Know About." I am horrible at reading books, just ask my wife, but I had been suffering from allergies so bad that I thought maybe there is something worthwhile here. So my doctor friend and I both purchased a copy. On a plane ride from D.C. to Seattle I could not put the book down (this was a miracle in itself). I was stunned to read that there may be cures for many, if not all, of the ailments we face, but according to the book these "cures" are suppressed by the pharmaceutical companies and FDA and are quickly discredited and labeled as "quackery".

I thought this sounded like a conspiracy, surely our government and the doctors we trust wouldn't hide simple low cost cures from the public. Well, I figured that I was smart enough to research some of this stuff myself and find out if any of the book's recommendations could help my allergies. I must admit I was amazed at the change in my health in just a short period of time when I followed a few of the author's recommendations. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to hear my doctor friend validate many of the points made by the author.

I'll save the rest of this story for the Health section of my blog, but I realized that the author may be on to something. Perhaps there is information "they don't want you to know about." Could it be possible that information is suppressed to protect corporate profits or is it an unconscious thing which results from capitalism? Like I said, you must figure out for yourself what you believe but after reading that first book on natural cures, I have spent countless hours reading books and searching the Internet for more information with the goal of living a healthy life without drugs or surgery. As a result of my research into natural health, I began to see that this onion has many layers and some of those layers include our public education system, medical universities, and the Federal Reserve.

My goal is to discuss the following topics:
- Healthy Living
- Political, Financial and Educational Interests
- Religion
- Pot Luck (maybe I will tell you about my love for 80's WWF wrestling, haha!)

Lastly, I would just like to say that this blog is not about "conspiracy" theories. Some may disagree since there are plenty of conspiracy theories on these topics, but I am simply aiming to challenge the status-quo of information presented in the mainstream media. I understand many people prefer to just push the "I believe" button and that is fine. As for me, I prefer to seek out the truth for myself.
